I am beyond THRILLED to bring you my book review for The Language of Divorce by Leanne Freeze on an AUDIOBOOK tour for Suzy Approved Book Tours!

About The Book:

Hannah and Will Abbott define the American dream:  two kids, a home in the suburbs, and a seemingly perfect marriage.  But discontent lurks under the surface of their outwardly happy lives as each Hannah and Will suspect the other of infidelity.  When they independently consult divorce attorneys, the conflict escalates and Hannah flees with the children against a court order.  This snap decision starts a social media firestorm and, suddenly, the Abbott divorce is big news.

With family stress and legal fees rising, Will and Hannah accept an invitation to appear on a reality television show for divorcing couples.  During filming on the beautiful island of St. John, the Abbotts must decide once and for all: can their love survive their past?

Miss W’s Review:

5 Stars !

The Language of Divorce by Leanne Treese , her debut novel was an emotional read for me, but so very relatable. I went into this book with some thoughts of my own regarding divorce . I was married for 9 years and have been divorced for 15 years. My life changed when my husband told me he was leaving me due to my sickness. I only say this because I know how hard and trauma filled divorce can be.

BUT, this is not about me, LOL! I really enjoyed this novel. Will and Hannah were what I think a typical couple with typical problems that all married couples have that sometimes can go from simple to severe. I am not belittling their problems, but sometimes communication can be quite a barrier.

The social media aspect in the book is very much based in reality. Its the first inclination many people have is to talk about such personal things on social media, and sometimes these can escalate.

I enjoyed that the story was told from both Will and Hannah’s perspective and their attorneys. Like they say, their are two sides to every story.

The characters were complex, very complicated, yet fleshed out. This is a story that will really stick with me for quite some time.

Highly recommend.
