About The Book:
Release Date: April 14, 2020
Publisher: Mango Publishing
If ignorance is bliss, American home buyers and sellers should be in a state of rapture,” says Tracy McLaughlin, a Bay Area real estate broker ranked #1 in residential sales every year for the past 15 years. Every day, she watches buyers and sellers make impulsive decisions based on very limited information that lead to serious financial consequences. She knows what people who trust Zillow or Realtor.com don’t: in nearly every real estate transaction, buyers and sellers leave behind money—hundreds of thousands, even millions, of dollars—in the process.
In Real Estate Rescue with Tracy McLaughlin: How Not to Leave Money on the Table in the Sale and Purchase of Your Home (Mango; April 2020), Tracy McLaughlin arms buyers and sellers with a comprehensive, strategic blueprint to overcome the cost of ignorance and maximize the value of their investment. Information about homes and markets only scratches the surface. As an expert who thoroughly understands her craft, McLaughlin reveals the wide range of overlapping skills and discipline essential to success in residential real estate.
Chapter by chapter, Real Estate Rescue with Tracy McLaughlin covers each critical step in the home sale and acquisition process, explaining it in depth. Along the way, McLaughlin delves into the psychology of homebuyers and sellers, calling attention to common emotional traps. By following her practical and rational approach, prospective home buyers and sellers will gain an edge on mastering:
• The mechanics and art of home valuation—which has nothing to do with what you paid for your home, what you need to net from the sale, or how attached you feel.
• Pricing right—with the aim of getting the highest offer without letting your home be a high-priced bread maker.
• Preparing a home for sale—from timing the market to staging a home for buyers to see themselves living in, with design tips and insights into environmental suggestions.
• Marketing and branding a home—using the power of storytelling to engage buyers while keeping the seller’s emotions in check.
• Fundamental matters of permits, inspections, and full disclosure, plus a list of the critical things buyers should be aware of and cautious about, yet often overlook.
• The dangers of trusting a friend or relative who dabbles in real estate with managing your largest asset. McLaughlin can share the story of a prominent divorcee whose faith in her dear friend, a socialite with a real estate license who hadn’t worked in over 20 years, wound up costing her half a million dollars—and other cautionary tales.
Tracy McLaughlin has a remarkable real estate success story. In 2019, after nearly 15 years of standing out as the #1 producer in residential sales in Marin Country, she was recruited by Mauricio Umansky, award-winning entrepreneur and real estate trailblazer, to lead the Marin County offices for his state-of-the-art luxury real estate brokerage, The Agency. Founded in 2011, The Agency has grown into a global company with more than 500 agents and 27 offices, ranking among the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country.
The typical American homeowner has 40 percent of their wealth tied up in their home, notes McLaughlin, driving home: no buyer or seller can afford the price of ignorance. Informative and empowering, Real Estate Rescue with Tracy McLaughlin: How Not to Leave Money on the Table in the Sale and Purchase of Your Home is a guide well worth the investment.

Book Review-The Wedding War by Liz Talley

Today I am bring you a review of The Wedding War by Liz Talley
Release Date 4/21/2020 Montlake Publishers
About the Book:
Save the date for this funny and poignant novel of family, friendship, letting go, and moving on by the award-winning author of Room to Breathe.
Once upon a time, Melanie Layton and Tennyson O’Rourke were inseparable—but their friends-4ever promises were shattered when an explosive secret was revealed at Mel’s wedding, a secret that destroyed her family. The two haven’t spoken for the past twenty-some-odd years, and they’d be happy if they never crossed paths again.
But now Mel’s daughter and Teeny’s son have fallen in love—and announced their engagement.
Which means the two women must tolerate one another and play nice long enough to plan their children’s dream wedding. From the beginning, they clash. Melanie imagines a classy, elegant event, in keeping with tradition. Teeny’s vision is a bit more extravagant, and thanks to her habit of marrying well, she’s got the cash to plan the flashiest wedding of the season.
Complicating matters are the men in their lives: Tennyson is falling for the wrong guy, and Melanie is trying to hold on to a flailing marriage. Amid the flurry of cake tastings, dress fittings, seating charts, and bridal showers, Mel and Teeny confront their past mistakes—with twenty years of pent-up drama.
When the day of the wedding finally arrives, their friendship might just be something old and something new.
Miss W’s Review:
5 Stars from Miss W !!!!!!!
The Wedding War is a well written woman’s fiction novel that I enjoyed very much. The central themes of friendship and forgiveness are ones that really touched me and I could relate to.
Melanie and Tennyson were friends in their 20’s and a HUGE falling out. I mean ooops I married your ex boyfriend and spilled your family secrets falling out. Now their kids are getting married and they have a wedding to plan and the pain and hurt is still fresh.
Melanie and Tennyson have relationship issues of their own. I absolutely loved the theme of friendship between Melanie and Tennyson and trying to resolve their issues for the happiness of their children. My female friendships are so very important and valuable to me.
There are some heavy topics in this book that the author writes with such respect and dignity including suicide and grief. I appreciate how she handled these topics.
The characters were complex, complicated, flawed and well fleshed out.
The Wedding War is a book I can happily recommend, I only wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

An ingeniously witty novel about the risks—and rewards—of opening your life to new people by Amazon Charts bestselling author Camille Pagán.
No new people: that’s Annie Mercer’s vow. It’s bad enough that her boss sabotaged her chemistry career and her best friend tried to cure her with crystals. But after her fiancé, Jon, asks for space while he’s gallivanting around Paris, Annie decides she needs space too—from everyone.
Yet when Harper moves in next door, Annie can’t help but train a watchful eye on the glamorous but fragile young woman. And if keeping Harper safe requires teaming up with Mo, a maddeningly optimistic amateur detective, who is she to mind her own business?
Soon Annie has let not one but two new people into her life. Then Jon reappears—and he wants her to join him in France. She’s pretty sure letting anyone get close won’t end well. So she must decide: Is another shot at happiness worth the risk?
Miss W’s Review:
5 Fantastic Stars !
I am a huge fan of Camille Pagan and I was super excited to read “This Won’t End Well”.
Meet Annie, whose fiance has left her and flown off to find himself in Paris! Yikes!
Where does this leave Annie?
Where to begin with all the things I LOVED about this book?
Its women’s fiction at its finest. The story is mystery as much as it is romance.
The story is fast paced and laugh out loud!
The epistolary writing style is one of my favorites and the authors use of this writing style tells the story in journaling entries , neighborhood letters (cue the I laughed until I cried), and emails.
A well written , fun read with a characters that are relatable and loveable.

Book Review- Don’t Put the Boats Away by Ames Sheldon
Welcome to my stop on the Book Blog Tour with Suzy Approved Book Tours for Don’t Put the Boats Away by Ames Sheldon.

About The Book:
In Don’t Put the Boats Away, World War II has just ended. The Suttons are struggling to rebuild their lives after the death of a beloved family member. Daughter Harriet goes to Madison for graduate work in chemistry at a time when women weren’t supposed to have careers. Son Nat flunks out of Yale in the hope that his father will finally agree to send him to music school because he’s passionate about becoming a jazz musician. Instead, Nat winds up working as a sweeper in the Malt-O-Meal Mill in Northfield during the frigid winter of 1947. Eventually he makes his way to Minneapolis and works as a jazz musician until he discovers he can’t support his family playing jazz. This novel is a deep dive into postwar history from 1945 through the 1960s. Issues like sexism and alcoholism are embedded in the novel but ultimately it’s a family saga about resilience.
Praise for Don’t Put the Boats Away:
2019 Best Book Awards Finalist in Historical Fiction
“Don’t Put the Boats Away is chock-full of well-researched historical details about political events, medical advancements, and even food trends of the 1940s, ’50s, and ’60s, and it also offers important commentary on professional opportunities for women during these decades. The author creates believable characters with complex interior lives. Overall, it’s a touching tale that examines the ways in which grief, regret, and unmet expectations can reverberate through generations.” ―Kirkus Reviews
“Reading Don’t Put the Boats Away is like being enveloped in a family, a real family bound by love and loss, music and science. It’s a testament to the danger of secrets and the hope we place in future generations. I enjoyed it thoroughly.” Jeanne McWilliams Blasberg, Eden and The Nine
“Don’t Put the Boats Away is a richly detailed family saga of the Suttons’ post-WWII lives—and a wonderful sequel to Ames Sheldon’s first novel Eleanor’s Wars. Ames’s knack for period authenticity is paired with a keen portrayal of the inner lives of major characters that transcend common narratives of ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s America. Complex relationships, dedication to music, science, and family loyalty, and the haunting legacy of war even on privileged families make this a compelling read.” Barbara Stark-Nemon, Even in Darkness, Hard Cider
“Don’t Put the Boats Away is a timeless portrait of life’s loves and losses… the novel has raw and dark undertones… Sheldon explores the furtive topics of mental illness and social conflicts with modern clarity… Her characters are empathetically real.” Minnesota Monthly
Miss W’s Review:
5 Stars !
Don’t Put the Boats Away is a thought provoking and well written story. The story takes place after World War 2 and the timeline encompasses 25 years. I enjoyed the alternating timelines of the past and present. There are certain components of the writing that were quite impressive to me. The themes of loss and forgiveness were evident to this reader. I appreciated the way that the author dealt with grief , PTSD, and alcoholism especially in post war time. The research the author did was quite apparent. The discussion of societal and class changes following the war were vivid and well described. I cannot commend the author enough for the vivid imagery that she was able to create. The description of the summer home on Cape May were fantastic. The characters were well developed, complex, authentic, and well fleshed out. This is a historical fiction novel that I would highly recommend.
About the Author:

Miss W’s Review :
5 Stars! A book that stands the test of time !
I very much enjoyed reading this book for the 40th anniversary of the book. This was my first time reading the book and the word incredible does not seem to suffice. The plot was well thought out and very detailed. This is a LONG book and I really enjoyed that no detail was left out. The writing style is somewhat circular, starting with the main character at the age of 78 years old then alternating back to her teenage self. The details and atrocities of war were described which such vivid imagery. The historical details in this book are beyond compare. The characters are complex, well fleshed out, realistic and complicated. This book was just incredible!

Book Review-Popcorn and Poltergeists by Nancy Warren
About the Book:
Release Date: 2/12/2020
Is there a murderous poltergeist on the loose?
When an Oxford caretaker is killed by a fall down the library stairs, and a professor attacked, rumors fly that it’s the work of a poltergeist who’s been causing havoc at the college.
The prof is a knitter, and a customer at Lucy Swift’s shop, Cardinal Woolsey’s. But Lucy thinks a very human killer is shifting the blame onto a ghost who can’t defend themselves and she’s determined to trap the real killer and get justice for the dead man.
However, danger lurks at the college where old secrets and new crimes collide. Vampire and old book expert Rafe Crosyer has been called in to value the college’s literary collection, and he witnesses first hand how angry the ghost really is.
Furious enough to kill? Or is there something else the tantrum-throwing spirit is trying to tell them?
And will they decipher the message before it’s too late?
This is book 9 in the best-selling Vampire Knitting Club series of paranormal cozy mysteries. Each book can be read on its own and there’s no gore, bad language or sex in these books, just a lot of humor, quirky characters and, of course, Oxford. “This series just gets better and better.”

Book Review- The Third to Die by Allison Brennan
I am happy to share by stop on the Book Blog Tour for #partner Harlequin with my review for The Third to Die by Allison Brennan.

About the Book:
New York Times bestselling author and gifted storyteller Allison Brennan’s new standalone thriller features a troubled female police detective and an ambitious FBI special agent who wind up at the center of a ticking-clock investigation into a diabolical serial killer.
Brennan’s novel will launch a book-a-year series featuring a fabulous cast of recurring characters. It’s the story of a troubled female police detective and an ambitious FBI special agent who wind up at the center of a ticking-clock investigation into a diabolical serial killer; and the bond they forge in this crucible sets the stage for the future books in the series.
Detective Kara Quinn is visiting her hometown of Liberty Lake, Washington, after being placed on administrative leave by the LAPD, when she comes upon the mutilated body of a young nurse during an early morning jog. The manner of death is clearly ritualistic; she calls it in. Meanwhile back in DC, special agent in charge Mattias Costa is meticulously staffing his newly-minted Mobile Response Team. One of his first recruits is the brilliant FBI forensic psychologist Catherine Jones. When word reaches Matt that the Washington state murder appears to be the work of the Triple Killer–it will be the first case for the MRT. Jones has done the only profile on this serial killer, but she is reluctant to join the unit, still shaken by the death of her sister a year ago under circumstances for which she holds herself responsible. But only she holds the key to understanding the killer’s obsessive pattern–three murder victims, three deep slashes a piece, each three days apart, each series beginning on a March 3rd–3/3, then a three-year hiatus before he strikes again.
This time they have a chance to stop him before he claims another victim strikes, but only if they can figure out who he is and where is is hiding.
Miss W’s Review:
5 Pulse Pounding Starts from Miss W!!!!
The Third to Die is the First Book in the Mobile Response Team Series and also my first book by Allison Brennan.
FBI Agent Mattias Costa is the head of the mobile response team and this book had me hooked from Page 1! I could not put it down!!!
This book was unbelievably well written. A police procedural but ticked all the boxes for me as a thriller. Every word in this book is well crafted. I needed to know what was going to happen next, I felt it in my core.
The plot was so well written and perfectly paced with engaged, well developed characters.
I seriously can’t wait for the next book in this series while I go looking for this author’s back list.

Book Review:
More Than by Diane Barnes on Book Blog Tour with Suzy Approved Book Tours

About The Book:
“You are obese, Mrs. Moriarty.”
Peggy Moriarty is stunned by her doctor’s words. She knows she’s let herself go a bit, but she thinks the young, skinny physician is exaggerating. Her husband’s death fourteen years ago left her to raise their twins, Grace and Greg, alone. But now that they’re teenagers, doing their own things, her only hobby is watching Messages from Beyond, a show about a medium who connects the grieving with their deceased loved ones.
When the twins leave for college, they give Peggy a gift certificate for an exercise class. At first, Peggy is insulted. But once the sting wears off, she realizes if she gets in shape, she might gain the confidence she needs to go on her favorite TV show and talk to her husband one last time.
With help from her new friends at the gym and Carmen Tavarez, the mother of Grace’s boyfriend, Peggy begins to emerge from her prolonged grief and spread her wings. She may soon discover that her sum is more than a mother, a widow, and her body.
Miss W’s Review:
5 Uplifting Stars!!!!
In “More Than” we meet Peggy who is a widow and mother of twins.
Peggy is beyond insulted when her physician tells her she is obese.
Peggy is so relatable in her journey and her struggles. All she wants is to go on a TV show to talk to speak with a medium that can connect her one last time to her husband.
This is “more than” a story about weight and how one sees oneself.
This story is about finding yourself, finding your support system and the hope that brings us all together.
This story is so well written with well fleshed out characters that will make you cry equally as much as you will laugh.
You do not want to miss this story, it has stayed with me long after I have finished it.

Book Review- All the Silent Voices by Elena Mikalsen
My review of All the Silent Voices by Elena Mikalsen on book blog tour for Suzy Approved Book Tours !

About The Book :
Release Date: 1/6/2020
Twenty-one years ago, Emma Shephard was sexually assaulted and forced to leave college. She has tried to forget the trauma, building a new life as a loving wife and parent with a successful marketing career. Then her world is rocked when her rapist buys the pharmaceutical company where she works.
Now it’s an impossible choice between keeping the safe life she’s created and pursuing justice. With her marriage at risk and her child in danger, Emma finds herself at the center of ugly secrets and scandals.
Miss W’s Review:
5 Stars from Miss W !
The Silent Voices by Elena Mikalsen is an incredible read. This is a fast paced domestic suspense that will keep you up at night turning the pages until the dramatic ending.
Trigger alert for rape and sexual assault.
Emma Shepard was sexually assaulted back in college and she did everything right including reporting the assault and yet SHE was the one thrown out of school . She moved on and went on to live a seemingly “normal” life. Though there really is not a normal life for someone that has been sexually assaulted. She is married and a mom. Suddenly, the company that Emma and her husband work at is bought by the predator that attacked her in college.
This was an incredible read, and is expertly written about the trauma that Emma had to endure and how the #metoo movement is giving these women a voice when they previously did not have one.
There is some incredible twists with an ending that was incredible!!!
I highly recommend this thought provoking, well written novel.
About the Author:

WRAPPED IN THE STARS is about love that lasts forever. Two lovers, Mark and Rebecca, got separated in the early 20th century, but their love remained behind, it didn’t die. Part of their love stayed in the ring that Mark gave to Rebecca. So, when this ring is found years later, another couple picks up the energy from Mark and Rebecca’s love and fall in love.
In THE HOUSE BY THE CYPRESS TREES I explore romantic love. That wild feeling of new love when you first fall for someone and you want to spend every moment with them and you will do anything for them.
ALL THE SILENT VOICES is about the depth of love between a husband and wife and what challenges a good marriage can withstand. How far will a wife go for her husband and how far will a husband go for his wife?
