About The Book:
Paperback Release : June 9, 2020
An epic and cinematic novel by debut author Nicola Harrison, Montauk captures the glamour and extravagance of a summer by the sea with the story of a woman torn between the life she chose and the life she desires.
Montauk, Long Island, 1938.
For three months, this humble fishing village will serve as the playground for New York City’s wealthy elite. Beatrice Bordeaux was looking forward to a summer of reigniting the passion between her and her husband, Harry. Instead, tasked with furthering his investment interest in Montauk as a resort destination, she learns she’ll be spending twelve weeks sequestered with the high society wives at The Montauk Manor—a two-hundred room seaside hotel—while Harry pursues other interests in the city.
College educated, but raised a modest country girl in Pennsylvania, Bea has never felt fully comfortable among these privileged women, whose days are devoted not to their children but to leisure activities and charities that seemingly benefit no one but themselves. She longs to be a mother herself, as well as a loving wife, but after five years of marriage she remains childless while Harry is increasingly remote and distracted. Despite lavish parties at the Manor and the Yacht Club, Bea is lost and lonely and befriends the manor’s laundress whose work ethic and family life stir memories of who she once was.
As she drifts further from the society women and their preoccupations and closer toward Montauk’s natural beauty and community spirit, Bea finds herself drawn to a man nothing like her husband –stoic, plain spoken and enigmatic. Inspiring a strength and courage she had almost forgotten, his presence forces her to face a haunting tragedy of her past and question her future.
Desperate to embrace moments of happiness, no matter how fleeting, she soon discovers that such moments may be all she has, when fates conspire to tear her world apart…
Miss W’s Review:
5 Stars!!!
What an incredible debut novel by Nicola Harrison.
Set in 1938, Montauk on Long Island, at The Montauk Manor.
The characters are wonderfully crafted, some likeable some not so much, those love to hate type of characters. Each individual character is well written , complex and fleshed out.
This novel speaks to the differences in class especially during the 1930’s. The relationship between Beatrice and Harry is a familiar one, poor though educated woman marries wealthy man. But this story is so much more than that.
The story is compelling and dives into relationships , not only romantic, but friendship.
I felt transported back to a different time and I loved every minute of it!

Miss W’s Review:
5 Stars!
I have been a fan of Dete Meserve and the Good Sam Series and I was really thrilled to read The Good Stranger, the third book in the series. I don’t know if a book could be more timely or uplifting than the Good Stranger.
Kate is now in New York and covering her first story as a political reporter, thanks to her politician father. But Kate is a good reporter.
I love a good mystery and the mystery here is one that will leave you with tears of joy.
People are doing good deeds all around Manhattan and it seems to be quite the mystery.
I always believe that you never know what someone else is going through in their own lives contrary to what may appear on the surface. A little kindness can go a LONG way and that is a central theme in this book and all of the Good Sam books.
I devoured this book , it truly has everything. Mystery, human nature, kindness, gratitude, and some unexpected twists thats I didn’t see coming.
Go buy this book. We all need this right now.

Good thing Mama has her back . . .
Includes Seven Recipes from Marygene’s Kitchen!
Miss W’s Review:
Five Charming Stars!!!!!
Southern Sass and a Crispy Corpse is the second book in the Marygene Brown Mystery series.
I LOVED the first book Southern Sass and Killer Cravings and the second book was just as good!
As we recall from the first book, Marygene has moved home to Peach Cove Island after a BAD marriage. She is the baker at the family restaurant that she co-owns with her sister. She lives in the house that her mom left to her after her passing. Speaking of her mom, I LOVE that her moms ghost helps Marygene with the murder mysteries.
I love the character of Betsy who is Marygene’s friend at the restaurant. These two have a strong female bond. I like the relationship with Alex, which is off and on.
This story has everything I am looking for in a great cozy mystery. Well developed, complex, REAL characters, a bit of romance and a lot of mystery.
Add to that the great family dynamics, this makes for a winner! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!!!!
*** This can be read as a stand alone book, but I do recommend reading the first book because it is great ****

5 empowering stars!!
Stretch Your Stress Away with ShayNay is a book that I found to be well written and a wonderful source of information for not only different types of stretches, but also how to perform them correctly.
The author identifies why we need to stretch and what the benefits of stretching are. Particularly I was drawn to one of the benefits of stretching the stress away that was described as “You will gain more clarity and notice an increase in mental stimulation”.
In addition to producing happy hormones and better sleep if you can stretch in the evening, I was all IN!!!
The stretches described were detailed and I appreciate that the author included pictures of the stretches.

Book Review- Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev
I am beyond THRILLED to bring you my review of Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev.

About the Book:
Publication Date: 5/26/2020
William Morrow
From the author of Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors comes another , clever, deeply layered, and heartwarming romantic comedy that follows in the Jane Austen tradition—this time, with a twist on Persuasion.
Chef Ashna Raje desperately needs a new strategy. How else can she save her beloved restaurant and prove to her estranged, overachieving mother that she isn’t a complete screw up? When she’s asked to join the cast of Cooking with the Stars, the latest hit reality show teaming chefs with celebrities, it seems like just the leap of faith she needs to put her restaurant back on the map. She’s a chef, what’s the worst that could happen?
Rico Silva, that’s what.
Being paired with a celebrity who was her first love, the man who ghosted her at the worst possible time in her life, only proves what Ashna has always believed: leaps of faith are a recipe for disaster.
FIFA winning soccer star Rico Silva isn’t too happy to be paired up with Ashna either. Losing Ashna years ago almost destroyed him. The only silver lining to this bizarre situation is that he can finally prove to Ashna that he’s definitely over her.
But when their catastrophic first meeting goes viral, social media becomes obsessed with their chemistry. The competition on the show is fierce…and so is the simmering desire between Ashna and Rico. Every minute they spend together rekindles feelings that pull them toward their disastrous past. Will letting go again be another recipe for heartbreak—or a recipe for persuasion…?
In Recipe for Persuasion, Sonali Dev once again takes readers on an unforgettable adventure in this fresh, fun, and enchanting romantic comedy.
Miss W’s Review:
5 Fantastic Stars!
Recipe for Persuasion by Sonali Dev is an expertly told retelling of Jane Austen’s Persuasion that is at its core a story about love, romantic and familial.
Second Chance romance, yes! Jane Austen retelling, yes! Second book in the Rajes sage , yes!
I was super excited for the plot that takes place on a reality cooking show.
The descriptive writing is mesmerizing. The relationship between Ashna and Rico is swoon-worthy with the perfect amount of chemistry , even after 10 years. The emotional trauma and heavy topics addressed in the book are handled expertly with respect.
This is a multi-layered, complex story about second chances. Romantic second chances and second chances within families. not just romantically, but within families as well.
The story is told in alternating perspectives of Ashna and Rico and also Ashna’s mother Shobi.
I fell in complete, total and utter love with the Raje family when I read Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors.
This story tells one of loss and redemption, not only between the Ashna and Rico but also between Ashna and her mother Shobi.
I love the angst that is portrayed only the way this author can. The family dynamics in the Raje family are complex and complicated.
This is a very well written story brimming with diversity and modern references that made me fell in love with Austen’s Persuasion all over again.
Dynamic, elegant prose and flawless character building make Recipe for Persuasion a book you will not want to put down.
Highly recommend !

Book Review- The Vampire Book Club by Nancy Warren
I always get excited when one of my favorite authors comes out with a new series!
Today on the blog I am reviewing The Vampire Book Club by Nancy Warren.
This is the first book in a brand new series and releases on 5/6/2020!!!

About the Book:
I was a divorced, middle-aged witch banished to Ireland.
My life could be summed up in a limerick…
There once was a misguided witch
Who tried a man’s fate to switch
Her punishment set
To Ireland she must get
But better than feathers and pitch!
With a name like Quinn Calahan I sounded as Irish as a leprechaun dancing a jig on a four leafed clover, but the truth was, I’d never been closer to the emerald isle than drinking green beer at the St Patrick’s day street party in Boston until I messed up so badly I had to leave the US. I was offered a job in a tiny village in Ireland that no one’s ever heard of. And I think that was the point in sending me there. How much trouble could a divorced, middle-aged witch get into in a village that boasted very few residents, one crumbling castle that attracted no tourists, and a post office that was only open Mondays and Thursdays?
You’d be surprised.
Miss W’s Review:
5 Fabulous stars!!!!
The Vampire Book Club is the first book in a brand new series by Nancy Warren.
I absolutely love the Vampire Knitting Club by this author and I was thrilled to
see a new series. I really love this book, especially that the main character is older.
The story is set in a tiny village in Ireland. The setting was described so detailed I felt as if I was there.
The characters were quirky, flawed and well developed.
The mystery is multi-layered, not only the murder itself but the mystery of how the main character was banished to this small town in Ireland for breaking the witchy rules.
I really enjoyed this book and loved reading a few familiar characters from the Vampire Knitting Club.
This is a series not to miss!!!!

Book Review- The First Emma by Camille Di Maio
I am excited to bring you my book review of The First Emma by Camille Di Maio on book blogger tour with Suzy Approved Book Tours. This book is based on a true story and I am thrilled to share my thoughts with you.

About The Book:
Publication Date: May 5, 2020
Camille Di Maio’s fifth novel THE FIRST EMMA is the true story of Emma Koehler, whose tycoon husband Otto was killed in a crime-of-the-century murder by one of his two mistresses—both also named Emma—and her unlikely rise as CEO of a brewing empire during Prohibition. When a chance to tell her story to a young teetotaler arises, a tale unfolds of love, war, beer, and the power of women.
Miss W’s Review:
5 incredible stars!
I am a huge fan of Camille Di Maio having read The Way of Beauty and The Beautiful Strangers.
I was really excited to read The First Emma and boy was I blown away.
This novel is based on true events, which I found fascinating.
The First Emma is an extremely well written story of Emma Koelher. Emma Koehler is the widow of Otto Koehler who had owned a Brewing company in the early 1920’s.
Emma has not lived an easy life and her late husband has extramarital affairs with two other women named Emma who were immigrants from Germany. After enduring a car accident the other two Emma’s came to care for the “First Emma”, one of whom possibly killed Otto.
About 20 years later , The First Emma hires an assistant to tell her story, and that is when we meet Mabel.
I was ABSOLUTELY captivated by this story. The research the author did is authentic and quite impressive.
I very much enjoyed the alternating timelines between the 1920’s and 1943 when Mable was helping Emma write the book about her life.
Emma is fiercely independent and does not care so much about the affairs as she does about keeping power in the brewing company.
The First Emma is a fast paced historical fiction story that will leave you on the edge of your seat. I fell in love with Emma and her fierceness and determination.
This book is a MUST READ ! I wish I could give this more than 5 stars!
About the Author:
Camille recently left an award-winning real estate career in San Antonio to become a full-time writer. Along with her husband of twenty-one years, she enjoys raising their four children. She has a bucket list that is never-ending, and uses her adventures to inspire her writing. She’s lived in Texas, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and California, and spends enough time in Hawai’i to feel like a local. She’s traveled to four continents (so far), and met Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II. She just about fainted when she had a chance to meet her musical idol, Paul McCartney, too. Camille studied political science in college, but found working on actual campaigns much more fun. She overdoses on goodies at farmers markets (justifying them by her support for local bakeries) and belts out Broadway tunes whenever the moment strikes. There’s almost nothing she wouldn’t try, so long as it doesn’t involve heights, roller skates, or anything illegal.
